The HR Solutions Project is a community-based research project that encourages businesses and employers to engage in an open dialogue on the challenges associated with a multicultural workforce. This is the first step toward creating a more inclusive workplace and competitive business, in the changing labour market demographic.
The Human Resource Solutions Project has two Advisory Committees: one is comprised of local employers and the other is comprised of immigrants to Victoria. The purpose of the Advisory Committees is to help guide the research, through input and consultations.
Both the employer’s committee and the immigrant’s committee held their first meetings for Phase 2 of the project in March 2008. The two interview guides and the focus group guides were designed based on the key priorities identified by each group.
The committees will meet again in August 2008 and November 2008 to discuss initial and finalized findings from the research. All three meetings provide an opportunity for new ideas to be raised and main concerns to be highlighted.
The research tem is highly appreciative for these opportunities to engage in informal discussion and garner ideas from individuals and businesses representative of the Victoria community at large.
