The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society – a
nonprofit association whose mission is to assist in the settlement
and integration of immigrants and refugees into Canadian society.
Your membership is an essential governing factor of the organization.
It helps maintain and expend VIRCS programs and services. Therefore, newcomers
will have the support to adapt in our society and become productive members
of our community. Thank you for your support to immigrants who fill in the
gap of the skills and labour shortages in the Canadian labour market. Your
membership strengthens our local economy.
Membership policy
- Invitations to membership
are open throughout the year to the general public who agrees to
comply by BC Society Act and accepts VIRCS’ mission.
- VIRCS offers
four types of memberships: 1/ Basic Individual Membership, 2/ Extended
Individual Membership, 3/ Family Membership, and 4/ Business/Organization
Membership.
- New members must fill out, sign an application, and
pay full membership fee.
- Membership will be automatically renewed on
a yearly basis. VIRCS will notify the due date for all members to
pay renewal fee.
- Each member - who has been a member for at least six
months
- has a right to vote for VIRCS’ Board of Directors. Individual
membership can have one vote, family membership: two votes,
and business/organization membership: one vote.
- Members will
have full access to membership benefits which is subject to
change (click here for detailed information).
- Any
member may withdraw from membership by giving written notice
to the President of the Board of Directors. The withdrawal takes
effect at
the time specified in the notice.
